The art of functional fashion has always been a part of my life. Growing up in Clearwater, Florida my high school friends and I would make hats and sell them to other students. I knew from that point on that one day I would start a clothing line with a purpose, but that goal took a back seat when I joined the Navy.
I wanted to find meaning by being a part of something bigger than myself and truly helping people. My contribution to the Navy was as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician in the Navy Special Operations Community. As an EOD tech, your job is to disarm bombs. You're responsible for saving the men and women you work with, and every day you put other lives before your own. The lessons I took from this humbling experience, and from the leadership qualities that the Navy instilled in me began to shape the unique idea behind UNYTE.
I believe that UNYTE is more than just a brand, it's a movement. The people who wear UNYTE apparel feel like they’re a part of something bigger. They stand for something. In a nation as divided as ours is, we're in dire need of a movement to bring individuals from all walks of life together under a common belief. Using a shared passion for the active lifestyle, we UNYTE our wearers no matter who they are, where they've been or what they believe.
"We UNYTE our wearers, no matter who they are, where they've been or what they believe."
- Josh Duntz
At UNYTE, we're inspired daily by visionary thinkers, self-motivators and future-oriented leaders. We run towards the unknown, take risks, and dare to learn and broaden our minds. We venture beyond the commonplace, the familiar, or the obvious to forge real connections and work to improve the world, one thread at a time.
One of the key drivers behind success is diversity, and we prize it among our teams. In a conflicted nation, we believe people need to come together instead of feed into toxic tribalism. Our positive-vibes only movement aims to ban that toxicity, bridge the divide and have open-minded conversations. The natural starting place of this is athletic adventures, where different backgrounds, races, sexes, political affiliations and religion come together to accomplish a common goal and feel good about doing it!
Lastly, we stay true to our roots, and so a portion of all proceeds from UNYTE will go back into the community that has given so much to me personally. The Navy Special Operations Foundation was formed by a good friend of mine, and it is a cause that I actively believe in. I know that as UNYTE grows NSOF will, and vice versa. Together we will build something special for our community and the world.
