Who is Nestreya, you ask? Well, if you can look at my work and relate to me, then you can definitely understand my definition of what it means, “to live freely”. I believe that we, humans, are capable of doing whatever we set our minds to do. Instead of focusing on our personal missions in life, we get easily and quickly distracted by the goals that has been pre-installed by our previously existing (not so perfect either) society. As a child I wanted to be in the spotlight. However, as I got older, I dealt with self-esteem issues and by overcoming those issues, I have been able to grow my confidence simultaneously. By me doing this, I was able to come to a point that I could tell myself, “F*%$ this I am great!” Even though I still deal with issues (because I am still human after all and who is ever done battling their issues?), I have come to the realization that there are individuals in this world who deal with way worse issues than I. I have in mind to overcome some minor issues of mine that involves public speaking and also understanding that not everyone will like me (it’s impossible to please everyone after all). I want to show the world that Nestreya is fierce in person and not just on social media. My fierceness is real and not just restricted to the lens of a camera. I’m making it my personal mission to influence others, especially young women, who are battling their own self-esteem issues. I want people to look into the mirror and tell themselves that they are the most beautiful being on this Earth and that they can do anything that they are determined to do! When you learn to completely love yourself, you’ll learn to dismiss unhealthy relationships with toxic and negative people. So who is Nestreya and what makes her different? Well my friends find me clumsy and goofy. I am all about originality, starting from my name, (I created the name “Nestreya” many years ago) to my hairstyles, pictures, videos, and any other outlet I choose to use to express myself. In order to continue with being original, I make it my business to work with people who also make it their mission to be original. To be able to watch other creative people doing them is such a beautiful sight to me. This is what continues to inspire me in my own life. To me it’s amazing to wake up everyday and be paid for one’s own creativity and I’m making it my mission this year to do so. “I’m an artist and I’m sensitive about my shit!” I’m willing to go hard for this mission because, in New York, you either go hard or go home, which is one of the many reasons as to why I love New York. So stay tuned for me and hit my line if you are ready to change the world with me!
