Bio

Greetings from Portugal. We're Melissa and Michael. We're a happy-go-lucky, nomadic couple from the United States. We sold everything we owned and moved to Portugal without visiting the country.

Curiosity is life to us. And we feel that if we are stagnant, we lose that sense of curiosity and wonder.

Travel can be difficult. Living in a new country as a foreigner certainly has its challenges. We feel these challenges help us become better people.

Sure we miss what is familiar. What we know is comforting. But leaving your hometown and heading somewhere new can be invigorating.

There are moments when we try hard to speak the language, but the person we're trying to communicate with responds in perfect English.

Seeing the elderly ladies sitting in a square singing with joy after they learn we are from the United States is something that will stay with me for a long time.

I was thrilled to get a Portuguese language lesson from an Uber driver with a marvelous sense of humor. He made the experience unforgettable.

I felt lucky to enjoy a Portuguese meal with the locals at an authentic restaurant. It's a joy to connect with the locals and share this unique cultural experience.

We are all looking for happiness. That's what it's all about. No matter what life throws at us, there is always something to be grateful for.
