From the frame to the brakes, men's and women's bicycles can look different even though they operate in the same way. Men's bike frames tend to be higher and more angled, making their posture more upright, while women's frame are often lower with a shorter wheelbase, which helps offer the female rider more control. Women’s bikes also feature narrower handlebars, which allows the rider to reach further back when shifting gears and makes it easier to ride in lower challenging positions such as back pedaling or spinning. Finally, both genders typically have slightly different brake systems depending on the manufacturer; however, both typically have enough stopping power for recreational riders. All cyclists should take the time to do research on available models in order to find a bike that suits them best.
