You: A little bird told me that you’re a pretty interesting guy who’s “a hell of a writer.” That sound like you?
Me: Now I have to know who said that and how much to pay him, haha. Honestly, I just like to write stories, they just so happen to be good at getting attention to whatever it is people are looking to offer or sell. I used to read a lot growing up, especially comic books, and watch or read a lot comedians or comedy writing, so that’s what rubbed off on me the most.
You: So you’re more of a creative would you say?
Me: Yes, that’s pretty accurate. Like I used to make independent films and write for a TV show while also being a full-time firefighter, almost made it onto a few reality shows through my goofball interview tapes, things like that. I ended up becoming a real estate investor, because bills, haha. But to be honest, real estate itself can be kinda boring. I had to mix it up a little just to keep it interesting to me, so I ended up creating a whole Real Estate cartoon family around a father I named “DaddysFastCash”, basically me, then a whole brand around it so that it became a successful selling tool on a local level. From doing that I picked up some pretty decent branding and marketing skills, the kind people eventually want to hire you for, so that’s what people in the Real Estate Investing and Internet Marketing industry know me for, the cartoon investor thing I developed.
You: Oh wow, So what would you say your “superpower” is, like what you’re best at?
Me: Well there’s always someone out there that gonna be bigger and badder than you at something, but I think business Networking is a big one for me. I love doing that, it’s probably the thing that has gotten me along the furthest in my life. So to that end I'm starting a business mastermind group right now. Next would be listening to people. Can’t find out what a customer or client or anybody really wants if you can’t learn to listen to what they’re trying to tell you in the first place. And storytelling, I would say I’m getting better and better, working up towards writing a book now actually. Emotional intelligence, that’s a big one, some would call that empathy. And Loyalty. Not a superpower exactly, but essential to me, gotta protect my wolfpack.
You: I get it. Funny, it’s not what most people would say, but now that I hear your list of what’s important to you for success, you kind of opened my eyes a little more on what it takes to be successful, the ingredients rather than just the outcomes.
Me: (nodding my head) Glad you’re getting that.
You: So what are you up to right now?
Me: Actually just retired. From the Philadelphia Fire Department I mean, not from being a Real Estate coach or a business consultant. My family and I just recently moved from Philly to Tampa, so I’m just living life right now, literally right now I’m just tip-tapping on a laptop on my back porch while enjoying a nice breeze coming off the lake through my back yard. And having this moment with you, which is also awesome by the way so thanks for asking. As for what I’m up to, my current focus is developing a podcast (The Dad Next Door) and building the Junto Masterminds group. Also developing a couple of apps, one is already done, it's in the real estate investor space, and the other is in the business coaching and consulting space, still tinkering with the formula. Still consulting here and there. The rest of the time is me just trying to be good Husband and Daddy to my 6 kids, so I stay pretty busy.
You: That sounds like a pretty full but satisfying plate.
Me: Yep, that it is.
You: Awesome. Last question. Is there anything else you’d like to share, maybe one thing you’d really want someone to know about you that maybe they don’t yet?
Me: Yes, and it’s pretty important to me, it’s the reason that I do everything that I do actually. We should all have a big why, it’s what drives us, pushes us through the distractions, rough times, and failures, and keeps us pressing forward so we finish our race strong. In my case, my big why is that I’m a big proponent of domestic adoption. We ourselves have adopted five by fostering to adopt, but that’s not enough for me, I want to see 100 kids adopted by my actions and influence before I’m 60 or within my lifetime, whichever comes first. So in everything I do, I’m going to be an evangelist for that process, try to be a helpful guide along that journey for others, in whatever ways I can, even if have to get involved personally and coach somebody through the process 100 more times if that’s what it's going to take.
That’s my why. 100 kids adopted. Through my influence. In my lifetime. Whatever it takes.
You: I see you saved the best for last. Well, thank you for sharing that, and I sincerely hope that whoever comes across this bio reads and remembers this, and maybe even takes you up on that offer.
Me: Me too. Whatever it takes.
