Bio

My journey of becoming a professional photographer started during my second year as a photography student in 1997. For the first time I could express myself creatively. I dove right into the creative process when we were given a brief. The first series titled ‘The Darker Side of Life’ about two youths on the brink of adulthood. I shot it on an Olympus OM2, a film camera that I inherited from my father. I presented the series in a book format, which was more than expected of us as second year students; I was out to impress.

That same year, I followed my passion and assisted photographers at ShowAds Omega and Adtown, a giant advertising agency in Australia. I was using Mamiya with Leaf digital backs at the most equipped facility for advertising photography. One significant photographer taught me “Lighting is important, it doesn’t matter if you are shooting people or products, don’t fall into the trap of fixing it in post” Those words still stuck with me today.
