Student LunchBox (SLB) is a nonprofit charitable organization committed to fighting food insecurity among college students. Established in 2020, SLB emerged with a clear mission to eradicate campus hunger and foster academic success.

To address this pressing need, we have devised an innovative approach that focuses on repurposing food waste to benefit those in need. In our close collaboration with local agencies, businesses, and community members, we actively purchase and rescue safe and nutritious food that would otherwise end up in landfills.

Our partnerships with major colleges and universities in Los Angeles County allow us to serve over 6,000 students monthly, providing college students with vital sustenance, including fresh fruits and vegetables, a wide range of grocery items, whole grains, protein sources, and many other food items tailored to their immediate nutritional needs.

We believe that no student should have to choose between education and access to food.

College food insecurity is a growing problem and has become a serious issue in recent years. With rising tuition fees, housing costs, and a number of other expenses, many college students struggle with the resources to afford balanced meals. Even those who are working or studying part-time often cannot make ends meet. The problem affects not only students’ health and wellbeing, but also their academic performance and future prospects. That’s why we are reaching out to influencers to help us raise awareness on this issue.

By harnessing the power of social media, you can help us reach out to our communities and spread awareness of the issue of campus hunger. Our organization is very small. However, the potential for growth is limitless. Currently, we work with 8 colleges and universities and serve over 6,000 students by providing them with a variety of food options to prepare balanced meals.
