Bio

I am a journeyman in the photographic scene. I started with a Kodak Instamatic camera back in 1977 and worked my way up through the Surf publishers, securing along the way more than 140 magazine covers and a string of prestigious camera awards. I spent the good part of 25 or more years producing and photographing photographic surf expeditions into out of the way places, supported by magazines, seeking the wanderlust of new locations for their readers. I always kept an eye on the local scenery from place to place and sought out extraordinary light whenever I could. This resulted in quite an impressive archive of imagery.

I’d worked in some pretty top-end color labs back in the 80’s so it was natural for me to start a business, printing and selling my pictures as fine art prints and canvases. I’ve been doing this since the financial crash and have built quite a worldwide following, doing many art shows along the way, including some international ones. I’ve pretty much set the beat of my own drum over the years and it’s served me well so far and I still add to my portfolio on a usually every other day basis.

* I’m a photographic consultant, specializing in water photography. It has all its own issues that most folks have no idea about. There’s a lot of things to watch out for, in creating perfectly sharp, well-lit images in and around the water. I do offer 1 on one consultation in water photography here on the north shore or in fact almost anywhere. I can always travel at the right price.
