"As a direct carver, I work freely, straight into the stone. No models or sketches in mind. Just my imagination, intuition, eyes and hands. I search for suitable stones in the Australian landscape that I think are special and quarry them home in my little truck. In my stone yard, I ponder over them and tease out the beginning of a shape in my chosen boulder and reveal the biomorphic image gradually with the use of my chisels and hammer and pneumatic and electric power tools specific to carving Basalt rock.
Currently, I am working on a collection of Basalt sculptures for a future exhibition to be announced."
