Bio

I am a Commercial and editorial photographer exclusively focused on international elite horse sports, athlete reportage, marketing media and prestigious brand and venue coverage. Based in Vancouver Canada and with a part-time UK/Singapore/Netherlands base.

A personal note.

They say to do what you love. While enlightening, ultimately the pressure to succeed takes on a more personal note.

At events, I find myself typically away from other photographers, predictively reacting to the stories. Images that tell the stories in a unique and original way. Away from the showground, private portrait sessions and commercial shoots keep me productive. I work closely with my clients to create collections of images specifically for their commercial, editorial and time-sensitive social media or press needs.

My admiration and knowledge of horses is a result of growing up in their company. The science of their movement and behaviour has long fascinated me. The stories that come with the sport keeps me drawn in. A day does not pass without an appreciative thought of the horses that have been part of my life. If asked, I'll always choose dressage.

As a photographer, at the end of the day proud of what I do. Humbled by the people I’ve photographed and excited to deliver to my clients, my creative vision that they invested in.

Born in England and raised surrounded by horses, Cara Grimshaw immigrated to Ontario Canada in 2000. Moving to her current home, Vancouver in 2003. Attending Langara College’s Photography Certificate program Grimshaw gained experience in all areas of photography in and outside of school. Including attending the London 2012 Olympics as an editorial technician where Cara rediscovered her passion for horses after a hiatus from equestrianism for a few years and subsequently began working with clients in the equestrian industry.

Utilizing her experience and knowledge from over 10 years in office management, personal assistance, project coordination and administration. Early 2015 Grimshaw founded Cara Grimshaw Photography. Cara now travels between Canada and Europe working with the industry leaders and most respected brands and organizations.
