Garden like a Girl was born out of frustration. Frustration born out of not being able to find quality women's garden gloves that fit, protected fingernails, and kept the dirt out where it belongs! You see, Mary, the Girl in Garden like a Girl, and avid gardener has “wear tested” virtually every garden glove ever made in search of the perfect glove; it doesn’t exist. The gloves that are available develop holes in the fingertips quickly, don’t protect your fingernails, allow dirt and splinters in, and fit poorly! On top of that the majority of gloves that are available are made from synthetic materials or are knitted gloves dipped in Nitrile which is a known carcinogen listed on California's Prop 65 list and also the American Cancer Society's known carcinogens list!
Faced with market reality, Mary, a ruggedly feminine gardener and two-time cancer survivor, cried out in frustration, "There's not a glove out there that'll last or protect my hands!” So, in November 2018, Mary grabbed her husband Tom, combined talents, and created a garden glove company focused on women’s specific needs for durability, protection, and fit that is eco-friendly, and gives back to cancer research by donating 10% of profits.
Early on, the opportunity to add apparel made from recycled plastic bottles presented itself, so, we added eco-friendly apparel to the product mix.
