Dr. JB Kirby is a best-selling author, Department Chair of Graduate Nursing Programs at South University. She received her Doctor of Nursing Practice from The Ohio State University. Her first book, Pain Management Decoded: Surviving and Thriving with Chronic Pain is her memoir which details what life is like with chronic pain. The book reached number one status in several categories in its first week of publication. She is a college professor in Columbus, Ohio. She has been a Nurse Practitioner since 2005 and she has worked in a variety of patient settings including critical care, hematology and oncology and most recently in addiction medicine. Dr. Beavers-Kirby is founder and current Co-President for the Council for Ohio Health Care Advocacy (COHCA). She is also a devoted patient advocate and is actively involved with the Ohio Nurses Association Legislative Committee, the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship a member of the Ohio Legislative Committee for the Arthritis Foundation.
