The Story of Dig Dig starts with his father, Ahmed Osman. Ahmed Osman came to America from Sudan in the 1960s to study economics in Dartmouth College. During that time he heard of a young civil rights activist with a strong following named Malcolm X. Osman visited Mosque Number 7 in Harlem to hear Malcolm speak. This was early in Malcolm's activism when he referred to white supremacy as the "White Devil". After Malcolm's speech Osman challenged Malcolm, expressing his belief that Islam had no place for hatred. Initially Malcolm disagreed and they exchanged numbers to discuss it further. Ahmed Osman and Malcolm X became close friends and lead the civil rights movement. Immediately after Malcolm's assassination Osman visited Betty Shabazz to give his condolences. Betty asked Osman to organize Malcolm's funeral in the traditional Muslim manner. Ahmed Osman agreed and he gave the eulogy along with Ossie Davis. To honor Ahmed Osman's contribution he was selected as the Grand Marshal of the 2020 African American Day Parade in New York City.
This was the inspiration for Ahmed Osman's son Siddig Siddig to launch Dig Dig, a luxury streetwear brand celebrating Black culture.
