Dark forest shoes are designed as an homage to the indigenous people of the Amazon Rain forest, who invented what is now known as the rubber outsole. This was accomplished by placing one foot in the gummy sap drawn from a rubber tree, then proceeding to dry the sap over a fire, resulting in a casting of the foot. We drew inspiration from this process by molding our lightweight eco-friendly studded grip out-sole directly to the upper of the shoe without hazardous glue, all while remaining washer & dryer friendly.
