I draw and paint since I can think, revealing an anecdote from my childhood for you may sound funny but I remembered it as a sad event. I had to spend some days in hospital for tonsillectomy. It was so boring so I painted what I saw - the tablecloth was figured with fairytale figures - and I drew them. After a while a nurse came in ‚Who did that?‘ ‚Me.‘ ‚Nooo, you’re great liar!“
I became acquainted with french book illumination when I was a student, very fascinating! In the literally sense of storybooks they tell tales, every detail does.
When I decided to start my personal project - paint one image every day - I saw that others managed that before me :) it was inevitable to reduce something, to become even more minimalistic, to allot time to capture the essence. So I paint a miniature every day.
Often I paint what is in my mind, what I saw last day, what impressed me, and there exists a list of all these subjects. But honestly I won’t ever cope with, the list is outgrowing, and since I have to work more and more on commissioned custom paintings I know there will be no chance to treat all finally.
You see a lot of animals in my work, and recently tiny circled landscapes, so its not hard to guess what I care about besides painting. Traveling, friends, family, my two grandsons … and do a good deed everyday, I think thats what I’m living for.
