About Me:

I am a lawyer, scholar, and content creator from Malawi with a passion for fitness and fashion! I am currently pursuing an LLM in International Corporate Law at the University of Leeds, and received an MA from the University of Cambridge on 29th April 2023.

I am the elected International Student Representative for Taught Postgraduates at the University of Leeds School of Law. This role is all about visibility, feedback, connecting students with academics/the Law School, and generally improving the experience of international students at the Law School. With that in mind, I started creating Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn content where I provide different tips for students from studying to careers to fitness. I promote events organised by the Law School on my social media and invite students to give me feedback/queries through social media.

About My Blog & Brand - "Wali's World":

As a result of my social media content creation, the University of Leeds gym, The Edge Gym, offered me a one-year Student Ambassador contract and I accepted this offer. In exchange for posting content for the Edge on Instagram, the Gym upgraded my free student membership to a premium membership under their Student Ambassador programme.

My personal blog and brand, currently operating under the umbrella name "Wali's World", basically aims to capture my life as an international student in all its eclectic and engaging glory. However, more importantly, it is about honest, positive, and engaging monetisation of content that promotes critical thought in society.

The Fitness Arm of My Brand - "Wali's Workouts"

The fitness arm of my brand, “Wali’s World”, is called “Wali’s Workouts” and the tag line I use for this arm is “fitness and fashion”. I create audio-visual content for this arm of my brand, so I do conscious sound selection where I mention and comment on different kind of artists. As a result, I have been recognised by some pretty big artists (the biggest being a Nigerian afro beats artist called Skales, who has two million Instagram followers).

Monetising "Wali's Workouts"

I am currently monetising the fitness and fashion arm of the “Wali’s World” brand, which is called “Wali’s Workouts: Fitness & Fashion”. I have several fitness partners under this arm of my brand. Two of my fitness partners are based in Leeds, namely The Edge Gym Leeds and one of its Step aerobics instructors, Eromosele Unuabona (trading as Boy with the Box). I also have a “fashion” partner, a Malawi-based athleisure business called “Curves & Crunches” which is ran by a young Malawian woman who I have been promoting on my Instagram blog for months.

My Handmade African Fashion Collection:

I am also creating a handmade collection of African athleisure, accessories, and couture using Malawian fabric called "chitenje". My collection is called "Chitenje Collection".

Monetising Beauty, Fashion, and Lifestyle Content:

I am also keen to monetise my beauty, fashion, and lifestyle content. I have created a lot of content in this space- for example lipstick and restaurant reviews. As a result, I have been recognised by brands like MUA Cosmetics, Cantu Beauty, and Turtle Bay UK.
