I am a poet, a chess teacher, a Buddhist. I honed these aspects of my life during the 22 years I spent in prison.I am now making my way in the world since my release on July 31, 2019.I appeared in The Altamont Enterprise ,an Albany New York news paper, six years ago in a chess column written by the late Clarksville lawyer and activist, Peter Henner. We played chess by mail. I have also corresponded with the young chess prodigy from Uganda, Phiona Mutesi, who lived in the slums of Katwe. Disney made a film, “Queen of Katwe,” about her meteoric rise in the chess world, based on a book by Tim Crothers, (The book is also titled The Queen of Katwe)which includes a letter from Myself to Phiona. The Altamont did a podcast which starts with Me reading one of my poems and ends with motivational words.
