I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. I did spend a lot of time traveling back and forth from Chicago to Mexico, but Chicago is always my hometown. I do tend to pronounce certain things with a Spanish flair, tortillas or jalapeños anyone? I knew what I wanted to do since I was a young kid. I joke around telling others that I was born with a pencil in my hand. Right after high school I joined the military because I could not settle for anything ordinary. (Not that there is anything wrong with a regular job). I wanted to see things, and learn new things.
When I left the military, I got married and moved back to Chicago to finish school. I graduated with a major in Illustration—but I love all types of art. I moved close to Atlanta, Georgia (I am not going to lie, I am not missing the cold weather one bit).
I live with my small family, an adorable husky, a fat cat, my husband and my sister. They support my love for art and tolerate my messiness. That is, until it spills out of my studio (I happen to take over a three rooms with all my art supplies and artwork) what can I say? I love organized chaos
Random Facts:
I love playing video games. I know it’s a waste of time but I love them. I am a huge Spiderman fan, and actually it was from watching the cartoon in the 90’s that inspired me to start doing art. I love trying new recipes, and I do enjoy cooking my traditional Mexican dishes, nothing wrong with a good Arroz con Pollo (Chicken and Rice)
What inspires my art?
For me, art is a way to express myself. I may not be good at expressing what I want half the time, but art does the trick for me every single time. It is a way of showing the world how I see the world, and sharing my emotions. Art makes me happy, and I want to share a little piece of that happiness with the rest of the world. It works best for me when I let loose, and not try to be to perfectionist about it (I still can’t kick the habit, it sneaks in now and then). We are our own worst critics, unfortunately.
