This whirlwind trip to visit San Diego has come to a close, and it's once again time to say goodbye to my former home; a place that I will always be able to rely on to remind me who I am; my oldest childhood friend. It seems our visits are getting shorter, and further apart as the years go by.
I made a silent promise to you when I left all those years ago; a promise I'm not sure I'll be able to keep anymore. I promised you I'd be back, and when I came back I'd stay for good. But that was a lifetime ago. We're different now. We've both grown and changed, in some ways unrecognizable to who we use to be.
But, no matter how much we change; no matter how far apart we are; no matter how fast we're moving through life; I know I can rely you to remind me who I am; to let me know it's ok change...just remember to stop every once in a while and breathe it all in; to let me know where home will always be.
